**Choose a route by its setup and playstyle, then open its dedicated guide.** The [build collection](https://pokebonk.co/builds) groups all three with complete farming instructions and gameplay videos. This page compares the trade-offs before you commit.

## Choose a route you can actually assemble

| Route | Opening attack | Main target | Check before starting |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Oddish → Vileplume control | Mega Drain | Spore plus Primeval Forest | Have Oddish unlocked; recruit Paras for its shared Spore offer. |
| Tauros movement | Payback | Raging Bull + Headlong Rush → Stampede | Unlock Tauros and leave room for the two inputs. |
| Gastly → Gengar Ghost | Lick | Shadow Ball + Hex → Gloomy Curse | Unlock Gastly; build useful Special attacks before chasing a fusion. |

The listed kit gates are **player levels at which a card becomes eligible**, not guaranteed rewards. Fusion readiness checks the **level of each equipped move**, not player level. Both inputs need move level 8 or higher. A fresh run has three move slots; the [Lab's fourth move slot](https://pokebonk.co/guides/lab) makes these plans easier to adapt.

## Vileplume: sleep and Primeval Forest

The control route uses a shared Spore offer and generic Grass Primeval Forest. It has the largest setup burden here: Paras recruitment, a random shared card, recovery after consuming Mega Drain, and a Physical fusion after a Special opening.

See the [Vileplume sleep build](https://pokebonk.co/guides/vileplume-sleep-build) for the full move order, item decisions, farming passes, guardian handling and corresponding gameplay video.

## Tauros: keep moving toward Stampede

Tauros can use its movement passive before completing the Stampede fusion. Choose it if you like broad farming routes and Physical attacks, while accepting that reserving later inputs can weaken the opening.

The [Tauros Stampede guide](https://pokebonk.co/guides/tauros-stampede-build) explains three-slot choices, the Physical item plan, safe turns, collection passes and a Celestial Glacier run.

## Gengar: Ghost damage with a status setup

Gastly opens with Physical Lick but later Ghost attacks are Special. This route asks you to manage that transition and keep a real status source for the planned Gloomy Curse synergy.

Use the [Gengar Ghost guide](https://pokebonk.co/guides/gengar-ghost-build) for requirements, attack order, lateral farming, Boss positioning and the corresponding creator run.

## Item priorities and when to keep two moves

The table gives selection priorities, not mandatory drops or a guaranteed final loadout. Check that your [Archive preset](https://pokebonk.co/guides/lab) has not excluded the items you want to find.

| Build bottleneck | Useful items to look for | What to check |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Vileplume lacks sleep coverage | Awakening; Spore access through Paras | Hits only have a chance to add sleep; keeping sleep after damage is also probabilistic. |
| Vileplume lacks area or roots | Wide Lens; Grip Claw | Area and root chance do different jobs; neither establishes a permanent Boss lock. |
| Grass fusion removed your healing | Big Root; Leftovers | Check the actual healing source after consuming Mega Drain. |
| Tauros needs Physical damage and movement | Muscle Band; Choice Scarf | Movement still needs a safe route. |
| Gengar needs Special damage | Wise Glasses; Choice Specs | Choice Specs has an attack-speed penalty; Lick is Physical. |
| Attacks work but arrive too slowly | Quick Claw | Check the displayed cooldown floor before stacking more attack speed. |
| The next hit will end the run | Assault Vest; recovery matching the build | A damage item does not solve every survival problem. |

**Do not fuse just because the machine is available.** Keep two moves when you still need their separate coverage or recovery, the result changes damage class away from your investment, or the inputs are not both ready. Fusion upgrades inherit according to specific rules; two excellent inputs do not simply add every bonus together. Damage, area and several other fields are averaged, cooldown uses a geometric mean, and pierce/bounce take the larger value in the checked matcher. Read the [fusion guide](https://pokebonk.co/guides/move-fusions) before replacing a working pair.

The current attack cards also show cooldown limits. Once a move has reached its floor, more attack speed may cease to help that attack. Use pause Stats, the Affects list and the current failure point to choose between damage, control, area and survival. These routes are not a ranking for every [Daily Mutation](https://pokebonk.co/guides/daily-mutation), co-op room or Tower floor.

## Sources and build scope

Written **October 28, 2026**. The full kit and combat baseline is our versioned **v0.8.25 / mvjzbutg** dataset. We separately read the official **v0.8.62 / mvr5gbc0** [gameplay client](https://pokebonk.com/assets/main-BOn5p88k-mvr5gbc0.js), [roster and item configuration](https://pokebonk.com/assets/defineProperty-CGpGi5J6-mvr5gbc0.js), and [English UI dictionary](https://pokebonk.com/assets/en-D2LOjFXW-mvr5gbc0.js) as inert source. That focused check covered these three kits/passives, kit gates, shared offers requiring a recruited League partner, named fusion identities and damage classes, Primeval Forest behavior, and the item descriptions used here. It did not remeasure every combat coefficient or establish clear rates, DPS or device performance.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can Vileplume learn Spore in PokéBonk?

Spore is not in Oddish’s native kit. With Paras recruited into your League, its compatible Grass Spore can enter the shared offer pool from player level 4; the card is not guaranteed.

### Which pair makes Primeval Forest?

Mega Drain plus Petal Blizzard is a compatible generic Grass pair. Petal Blizzard plus Petal Dance instead matches the exact Dancing Garden signature recipe.

### Do I have to fuse every build?

No. Keep separate moves when you still need their coverage or recovery, when the result changes damage class away from your investment, or while either input is below move level 8.
